MARTINA MERLINI

Group exhibition Apertura

Mini Galerie, Amsterdam, The Netherlands 24 May – 21 June 2014

The Mini Galerie is proud to present Apertura, an ‘all Italian’ exhibition at the new location of the Mini Galerie in Amsterdam. For this exhibition the gallery invited the following six talented Italian artists: Moneyless, 108, CT, Tellas, Roberto Ciredz and Martina Merlini. The exhibition will host a variety of techniques, sizes and media, ranging from drawings, paintings and wall objects to photographs and screenprints.
The Apertura (the Italian word for opening) exhibition will be the first exhibition at the new space of the Mini Galerie. After three years of organizing exhibitions in a small apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, it is time for the gallery to take the next step.
You are welcome to join us for the opening of the new show and the new location on the 23rd of May, 18-21 h.

White Walls is proud to present Space//Squared, a group exhibition centered around notions of the architectural landscape.

The exhibition is a synthesis of differing media and artistic backgrounds, with over 100 artists each contributing a piece of artwork in 10x10 inch format with their interpretation of space & form within either the constructed or the natural environment.

Join us for the opening reception Saturday, May 10, from 7-11 P.M. The exhibit will be open to the public for viewing through June 7, 2014.

Space//Squared explores the constructed and natural environment whilst also serving as a comparative survey in how different individuals respond to a single set of prescribed criteria. Each of the participating artists were given the same commission guidelines by curator Sven Davis, leading to a series of unique interpretations of the brief. The disciplines of art and architecture traditionally enjoy a symbiotic relationship, and the parallels run deep between the conception and realization of an architectural project and the Space//Squared exhibition itself.

Accompanying the exhibition, artists Adam Friedman and Robert Minervini will create a site-specific installation inside the gallery space featuring a series of paintings interwoven with mural elements thematically exploring similar territories.

A Major Minority

An Intercontinental survey of Othercontemporary Urban Art

Opening Reception: Friday, March 14th, 2014, 6:30 – 9:30pm

Show Dates: March 14th through April 12th

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – 1AM is pleased to present, “A Major Minority”, opening on March 14th, from 6:30 – 9:30 PM. Curated by San Francisco-based artist Poesia, “A Major Minority” is a survey of Othercontemporary Urban Artists from over 18 countries consisting of over a 100 artists. Expect to see an international sampling of art works that reveal the overall character of Urban Art and its relationship to the public as well as the contemporary art world.

According to Poesia, urban art has become an OtherContemporary art movement outside of the contemporary and critical art world. By taking a large sampling of the world’s most prevalent urban artists, Poesia aims to reveal the true character of this art form as being born outside of theory and based on its interactions with the public as well as its urban landscape. “A Major Minority” is an attempt to illustrate the current progression of this art form as “traditional graffiti merges with street art and becomes what the public has coined Urban Art.”

STEREOTYPISM is the new line of dishes from CASALINGHE DI TOKYO.
The graphics are handled by Basik and Martina Merlini. The gestural expressiveness is at the base of the collection illustrated in a minimal and graphic key.

Basik choose a typical Italian gesture developed in two colors and in six different perspectives and accompanied by the letters that composing in sequence the word Stereotypism.
Martina Merlini surrounds the figurative and develops six different patterns framing each hand.
The collection consists of 6 + 6 plates telling a story and every dish is linked to the other in an organic work in which every element is essential.
The visual mix between the dishes are meant to be replicated each time in a different way, making the entire collection constantly dynamic.
For CASALINGHE DI TOKYO every meal is important and the table becomes an occasion for taste and sight.
